I received a similar letter for the same offer from a “Scammer” trying to offer me the exact same position. What they do is send you a fake Cashiers Check which they want you to deposit into your bank account. The Cashiers Check looks real except it lacks the security watermark when held up to the light. The bank account numbers which the Cashiers Check was drawn from is fake and if anyone is foolish enough to just deposit it into their bank account will find out within a week or two that the Cashiers Check/Money Order is counterfiet. That’s when your bank goes out after you for depositing and cashing it. It’s so simple to just take the Cashiers Check (one was made on a Citibank account) and present it to your bank and have them call the bank which is on the check that was written. You will find out quickly that it is a forgery and not worth the paper it’s written on.
Want to get at these Scam artists? If you get one of these worthless pieces of paper do not attempt to cash it and file it away. When they contact you via email or phone regarding the reciept of the Cashiers Check just thank them for the money and tell them you have decided to keep it all. It’s not as if they are going to expose themselves to the law. Another thing to do is to turn it over to your Postmaster at your Post Office. Postal inspectors love to go after these scam artists as it is a felony to use the US mail to attempt to scam anyone. There have been several different variations of this scam however they all print up their own Cashiers Checks with a correct bank routing number, but the account number is fake, and the document lacks a watermark even when it states on the Cashiers Check to hold it up to the light to reveal a security watermark. Once again, NEVER just deposit it into your account. Your bank’s customer service will make a 3 minute call to the bank whose routing number is on the check and can verify if the document is legit, which I can assure you that it is not. If I am bored and want to mess with them I tell them what I said above. I thank them for the money (which in reality I never got) and say I used the money to go on a vacation to Hawaii and could they please send me another check for a larger amount because I’d like to buy a motorhome. I have never been taken for even a dime since this whole idea of needing someone to cash a check for them is complete nonsense. I even had a guy who was involved in one of these scams call me about sending “their” part of the money and he was really ticked off because I led him to believe I actually received the money, but spent it.

I received this odd e-mail–the same as the ones above–on November 1/07 and saw it as most odd and unreal. Luckily I went on the interent and found your item on scams.

I’ve received some of these as well. They ask you to notify them when the bank will release the funds. Give them a date well into the future. (such as 12-28-2063) It really pisses them off.

I ‘AM IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS SCAM NOW THE CHECK HAS BEEN DEPOSITED. WHAT CAN I DO NOW.
