They’re still at it..those scammers just texted my friend a while ago, the exact txt message read “CONGRATS” via ELECTRONIC RAFFLE MACHINE U WON(300,000) FR.PCF(PHIL.CHARITY FOUNDATION)pLS.TXT UR COMPLETE NAME&ADD.NOW. CONTACT ATTY.VIVIAN M. CHUA @ this # TY.” Good thing she asked me about it. she said she already called the ‘Vivian’ then the vivian suddenly got offended when she said that it’s hard to believe that she won..my friend can’t post a message ryt now so I did. this really should be looked upon because so many people are being victimized.

More so, i think its more appropriate to inform the said foundation ( if its really existing) for them to be aware that they are pose for reputation risk.

Last August 30, 2007 I received a txt message from CP#639165552375 stared like this: Notice From: D’AUDITORS of PGMA CHARITY FOUNDATION INFORM YOU THAT YOUR CELFON # WON P950,000 2nd Prize winner, drawn last 29-AUG-2007. Pls. call now ATTY.VENUS AYALA….. I replied first asking how can I claim the prize and If this is not a scam, I waited for several minutes for a reply then called up and spoke to a female voiced person, then that person told me to send her my Name,address and age via txt message. I told her what proof could she give me that it is not a scam, she just kept on repeating the instructions and that they are from the charity foundation.I said OK but I never sent her the details she was asking.

I called the contact person and he asked me info : passport no., addresses, work places, etc. I told him that I would like to verify first but he sounded defensive. Good thing, I browsed the net first before doing any move.

Hello, for someone who was scamed and provided them with all the personal information what is the best way to protect themselves from further identity theft? Obviously they are not good people. Does the banks need to be informed?
I received this today on my Smart #! And also got it previously on two Globe #s!! Coincidence? Beware of these scammers!! Only way to stop them is let others know and not send them anything (sims, infos, etc.). And take care always!

Johannes Sy… spoke to him and even gave him some info about myselt…. and asking me to go to the nearest Western Union to remit US$710 or if not even 70% of the said amount… said to process my prize which will be deposited in 8 transaction of $5,000 each transaction. I didn’t know about this scam until i search the PhilCharity Fund in the internet and found out that this kind of scam has been happening since. Our Gov’t must do something about this… anyway, sa mga kinauukulan eto ang number ng nag send ng message 09093517413… beside saan kaya kumukuha ng numero tong mga halang ang kaluluwa na to. Lalagay pa nila na Atty sila eh they don’t even sounds like a lawyer….sa mga manlolokong to, pakamatay kayo, ang kapal ng mga mukha niyo, yung mga OFW na nagtratrabaho ng maayos kikikilan niyo pa eh napakahirap na ngang magtrabaho sa ibang bansa na malayo sa pamilya.

The public is again being warned about text scams which continue to victimize people, including overseas Filipino workers.
MODUS OPERANDI
Text scammers use fictitious names or pose as government officials, send fraudulent text messages to their victims saying that their mobile phone numbers won in a raffle allegedly sponsored by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas or other institutions.
The scammers tell their victims that to be able to claim their alleged prize, they should first send money to the scammers thru a designated account in a bank or remittance company.
The scammers also require their victims to send prepaid load to the scammers’ prepaid mobile phone numbers.
Once the scammers receive the money and prepaid load, the victims would no longer be able to get in touch with them again.
We repeat — the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas does not conduct raffles.

Such message is not credible because it is so informal to sent just a text message informing somebody that he/she won big amount of cash/cash equivalent.

Thanks for this website. This is certainly a sort of scam. Scammers are using different names and cellular phone numbers or using different emails or misrepresenting the names of any institutions. The only solution is to ignore those text messages without credibility and validity. It is difficult to stop scammers but we can only stop them if we will not entertain their insane text messages. BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!
i also received the same text message saying that my number had won 950,000,000 hahaha who would believe that someone could actually win as much as 1 billion pesos… tsk tsk..
and frankly, no one would be sending a text message to announce that you have won something, pathetic modus operandi… i even called the number and said, “get a real job” haha and mind you, they have this really long speech that goes something like “PGMA blah blah blah” and i said, “wow, you must’ve really practiced that speech before you got it right huh?”

Gosh, he sounded really convincing in telling me na i won daw to almost 950,000.. sinong di gaganahan db? ahehe.. he even asked me to choose between two options daw kung paano ko gusto i claim ang prize, if via the ACTIVE ACCOUNT or through LBC. i chose LBC, then he instructed me to text to him my name, address, and age..then to call him again. I did as he said but i gave him the wrong info.. i called again, (he doesn’t sound like an attorney, i swear.. an elementary student is even more fluent in english than him) this time asking how the LBC option worked.. he was saying something about SSPC 6 PIECES SMART BUDDY PREPAID callcard worth 300, then getting the 14 digit number from the back of the card.. ryt then and there, i lost interest in listening to him, siguro dahil na rin sa diction nya na nakakatawa pakinggan, so i ended the call while he was in the middle of explaining the FAKE procedure to me… DUUUUH, such bitches… i had fun though. hehehe… nice try. for you guys out there, BEWARE.

After serveral e-mails he sent me a draft of application letter and ask me retype and send to the bank, I did and then the bank sent me a letter to invite me fly to Ivory Coast to handle this transfer directly with the bank. I am aware that these scams are common in our country so I didn’t believe this. I searched the internet and found this site and got quite bothered because most posts have been here for more than a year already, yet we are still receiving this kind of messages. This means that these people haven’t stopped their kalokohan and I believe many still are being victimized everyday. Siguradong marami pa rin ang kumakagat sa kanilang modus operandi. Kawawa naman ang ating mga kababayan.
Another question in my mind is this: how do they know that your number is a roaming number that they are able to send you a message that says “your roaming # won”? (Isn’t this supposed to be known only by telecommunication companies?)
Anyway, I hope the authorities will do something about this.

I suspect the origin of these scam messages are the Telcos themselves. Individual scammers have no access of large pool of scammed cell numbers, but Telcos do. These Telcos also scammed us time to time using their 4-digit sending numbers.

You can call 211 hotline for globe and report such incidents so that they can block those scammers. They (GLOBE Tel) has its department who will investigate BUGUS sms.

hi all, can you please share more information about this? i also received a text message with the same line yesterday, then i tried calling and when i hang-up, they texted back (090620356002). they requested me to dial again until such that i was able to get a hold of a certain Leah Sanchez. She asked me how come i did not replied the same day they sent the message, I even asked if there’s any fee involved. asked for my details and have sent other information about this so called promotion that they said i was one of the few who have won.
can anyone tell or share more information about his scam, did anybody tried to go to the place (Central Bank – Administration Division Room 301) to clarify this issue that’s been haunting a lot of innocent people, who of course would be attracted to what was said with the message they have sent out.

We actually tried calling the number first using the landline but they wouldn’t pick up the phone. We could only hear the ringback “NOBODY by THE WONDERGIRLS!!!”"

Hi, im from Cebu. Our helper’s cousin received a messege like one too.The text message was from Ramon Mendoza using the number 09078182248. And she was really decided to process her win. Good thing my helper shared this to me and im really sure this one is a scam. I called the number but one answered. I told my helpers cousin that you wouldnt win a raffle if you havent joined one. I searched the net and i am surprised that this has been operating for so long already. I think those people behind the scam doesnt care. Uneducated that the still use the same message but with different numbers and names. and im sure there are still some who are victimed. My message for everyone is that, not to trust any text scams. with the thought you havent joined a raffle, definitely, you will never win. Be wise enough.
